My first Opinel
"My first Opinel, my first adventures... A first Opinel, perfectly safe, with this round-tipped knife ideally suited for children. Offering this object to a child also means passing on values and accompanying him in his discoveries (confidence, autonomy, creativity, motor skills, respect for nature...)."
Les conseils de la maison
Children's knives N°7 "Mon premier Opinel", presented in Blue, Fushia, Red, Green, Tangerine or Natural Wood. Blade : 8 cm - stainless steel The modified Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel developed for Opinel is renowned for its sharpness and ease of maintenance. The stainless steel capable of undergoing the heat treatment that gives it its good hardness is called martensitic. It has a carbon content of at least 0.40% which gives it a very satisfactory edge without being susceptible to corrosion. Round tip blade: The tip of the blade is rounded to provide greater safety in use. It is also an ideal blade for spreading. Handle: The hornbeam is from French farms. It is a white wood with little grain, ideal for applying colors without altering them. The handle is varnished to be better protected against humidity and dirt. Safety ring : Invented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel, the Virobloc safety ring is used on all closing knives from N°06 on. Cut out of stainless steel, the Virobloc is made of two parts: a fixed part and a sliding part. In addition to locking the blade in the open position (safety in use), it is now possible to lock the blade in the closed position (safety in transport).
